John Niroa, currently the Principal of Malapoa College in Port Vila visited the UK in 1996/97, during a four week stay, spent two weeks attached to British schools - Clifton College in Bristol and Nonsuch High School for Girls in Cheam.  In the course of his stay, John also visited Atlantic College in Wales as well as spending one week on a developmental programme organised by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London where he visited the Ministry of Education and a number of commonwealth agencies.  In addition to the many formal events and activities set up for the visit, John also enjoyed the relaxed and informal hospitality offered by members of the Bristol Branch of the ESU as well as the many visits and meetings with friends and former teachers of the BFoV.

John returned to Vanuatu to Vanuatu in March, 1997 and has remained in contact with the association since.  In his report to the Vanuatu Ministry of Education on his return, John recommended a number of measures based on his experience gained in the UK.

John returned to the post of Principal of Malapoa College in Port Vila, but in the year 2001 he took up a promotion post in the Department of Education.
